"Lowering the (Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment) is one way we can assist our members in reducing their monthly energy bill." "This has been a very hard summer for us all, and after such a challenging financial year, it is nice to be able to assist our members and show them we care by offering lower rates," said Blake House, Sawnee vice president of member services. The rate change will impact the bills of residential and most commercial accounts, according to Sawnee officials. Goodroe, Sawnee president and CEO, said in a statement. As variables change within the electric utility industry, Sawnee EMC’s Board of Directors will continue to review the WPCA and make adjustments as needed to continue to provide reliable, safe and affordable electricity to Sawnee EMC’s member-owners. With the WPCA decrease, Sawnee EMC’s member-owners will see an average reduction of $17.50 per 1,000 kWh consumed. “As an electric cooperative, Sawnee EMC’s Board of Directors reviews the WPCA on a regular basis, and adjusts it accordingly which is an efficient practice when compared to a permanent rate change,” states Blake House, Vice President of Member Services. This billing factor provides a way to account for changes in the price of fuels used to generate electricity, as well as other factors within the utility, which can increase or decrease throughout the year. The WPCA or “fuel charge” is a common practice used by electric utilities nationwide. WPCA is a factor that changes, either up or down, and is a necessary to account for monthly fluctuations in Sawnee EMC’s wholesale power and other costs. This action will affect all Sawnee EMC residential and most of its commercial accounts. This rate reduction will occur in the Sawnee’s Rate Schedule “R”, Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA), a billing component utilized in most Sawnee EMC rate schedules. Yarn Berry in PnP mode already has all of the information it needs at hand and, instead, tells Node where to find them. Previously, Node had to find your packages within the node_modules folders. In contrast to the traditional way, Yarn Berry turns the responsibility around on who finds the packages. PnP is a new and innovative installation strategy for Node, developed in contrast to the established (and sole) Common,js require workflow that tackles many of its inefficiencies. You can read about Yarn Berry’s motivation to get rid of node_modules, but the reasons are similar to pnpm’s. Yarn Berry tried to ditch node_modules completely, using a Plug’n’Play approach. In such situations, hoisting can lead to phantom dependencies and doppelgangers. Jonathan Creamer gives a detailed view of what can go wrong in a monorepo project where the hoisting algorithm fails and causes production errors. Hoisting can lead to serious and difficult-to-detect errors, especially in large projects. The following image shows how this works: The differences between npm v2 and npm v3’s node_module algorithms The reason for lifting everything to one folder level is to reduce the redundancy that nesting causes. Simply put, hoisting flattens the node_modules folder in such a way that every dependency, even the dependencies of dependencies, ends up on the root level of node_modules. This same dependency resolution algorithm was also used by Yarn Classic in the beginning. The root problem of this flat node_modules layout is a concept called hoisting, which was introduced by npm in v3. The flattening algorithm is a time-consuming I/O process.Modules can (accidentally) access packages they don’t depend on, which can lead to bugs. The traditional dependency resolution strategy to flatten node_modules folders leads to several different issues: The problem with the traditional node_modules approach Traditional strategies have reached their limits in terms of performance and disk-space efficiency. The reason for this is that innovative resolution approaches are required to cope with the requirements of modern software projects, which increasingly make use of large amounts of dependencies. These modern package managers try to part ways with traditional approaches to process and store dependencies. When using the default configuration, pnpm and Yarn Berry do not use the same dependency resolution algorithms as npm and Yarn Classic, which involves flattening node_modules folders. A separate project to demonstrate different dependency resolution strategiesĪlternative dependency resolution strategies.A monorepo project to demonstrate workspace features. Therefore, I created two companion projects on GitHub to provide examples: This article covers several package manager features. What all these innovations mean for the future.Adding monorepo support with workspaces.Debugging issues with dependencies in Yarn Berry PnP.The problem with the traditional node_modules approach.Alternative dependency resolution strategies. We’ll cover the following things, comparing implementation options where applicable: The goal of this article is to convey how Yarn and pnpm have focused their efforts more closely on enabling developers to build monorepos through workspaces, and providing more advanced approaches to improve security and performance. While the focus in the previous article was on comparing core concepts and structures, this article will cover the advanced features of modern package managers, including monorepos, through workspaces. I’ve written in a previous article about the topic of dependency resolution strategies among npm, Yarn, and pnpm. This article aims to leave you with an impression of where package managers are headed in the future to support developers’ needs - such as by enabling developers to manage large monorepo projects with adequate performance and good DX. But they are also bred to be companion and guard dogs, perhaps best known for being loyal family pets that are especially fond of children.Boxers are loyal dogs and unlike certain breeds, are not "one-person" dogs. They were one of the first breeds employed as a police dog, and they have been used as seeing-eye dogs. After 1940 the breed rose to become among the most popular in America.īoxers are considered working dogs. Boxers were not imported to the United States until after World War I. Other fanciers contend the name boxer comes from the characteristic way that they use their forepaws to play, sparring much like a human boxer. Some breed historians say boxers are named from the German word boxl, their slaughterhouse designation. They were developed in Germany in the 19th century, initially as bull baiting dogs and later as butcher's helpers, controlling cattle in slaughterhouses. History:īoxers are descendants of extinct bullenbaiser breeds crossed with mastiff, bulldog and possibly Great Dane and even a terrier. Their life expectancy ranges from about seven to 10 years. Like other larger dogs, boxers are not particularly long-lived. Some boxers drool excessively, and some snort and snore. Their coats, however, are very easy to care for and will be shiny and bright as long as they have a good diet, are bathed occasionally, and are given regular rub-downs with a grooming mitt or brushings with a rubber curry. They also need protection from the cold since they are short-coated. If you live in an urban area, regular walks are necessary.īoxers are intolerant of hot weather, and care must be taken to prevent them from getting overheated. They can do well on a country estate or in a city apartment as long as they have the opportunity to romp and expel energy. Boxers are ideal for people who want a canine companion with them most of the time or for larger busy families with homes that are often occupied by someone. If these needs are not met, boxers can be destructive if left alone in the house. The boxer has a high need for companionship and exercise. Many boxers are vocal, however, and make a growling noise that's really just the dog's way of talking. If a boxer barks, chances are there is a good reason. They prefer to be in the company of their owners and are loyal pets that will fiercely guard their family and home against strangers.įew boxers bark excessively. Their temperament reflects their breeding. Personality:īoxers are intelligent, high-energy, playful dogs that like to stay busy. Their face or mask is usually black, but many have white face markings and white on the chest and paws. Some boxers are a rich, fawn color and others are brindle. The boxer's coat is short and sheds moderately. Their feet are compact and the toes are arched. Their tails generally are docked and carried high. Boxer's ears fold over naturally, but traditionally, their ears have been cropped to stand erect. They have a broad, deep chest and a relatively short, strong back. Their jaw is undershot and the muzzle blunt. Males grow to about 25 inches and weigh from about 65 to 80 pounds (30 to 36 kilograms) females grow from about 21 to 25 inches and weigh from about 50 to 65 pounds (22 to 30 kilograms).īoxers have regal, distinctly shaped square heads.
